As an enthusiastic hiker who has explored this path, I can't wait to share my experience with you.
Our journey commences not too far from the charming village of Edale, a gateway to the Peak District National Park. The excitement builds as you leave behind the everyday hustle and bustle, and instead, you're surrounded by the tranquility of nature. From the get-go, you'll notice that this is no ordinary walk; it's an ascent into the heart of the Derbyshire countryside.
The initial part of the journey is all about gaining elevation. The path takes you steadily uphill, demanding a bit of effort, but don't worry; the rewards are well worth it. As you push yourself upwards, you'll find your surroundings changing. we will be leaving the lush green fields behind you'll find yourself on Rushup Edge, a place that feels like it's on top of the world. The panoramic views are nothing short of spectacular. Turning back, you can see the village of Edale far below, with its quaint houses nestled amidst a patchwork of fields.
As you stride along Rushup Edge, you'll notice that the path becomes relatively flat. This is a welcome respite after the initial climb. This part of the walk is where the magic truly happens. The ridge offers sweeping vistas on both sides that are simply breathtaking.
To one side, you have the striking Great Ridge, a line of peaks that includes Mam Tor and Lose Hill. Their majestic profiles are silhouetted against the sky.
On the other side, the landscape opens up to rolling hills and valleys, a patchwork of greens and browns that stretch out as far as the eye can see. This view is a testament to the unspoiled beauty of the Peak District
As we approach Lord's seat you can clearly see the site of a round barrow The hill summit of Lord’s Seat is the highest point on Rushup Edge, part of the ridge that extends to Lose Hill. The hill reaches 550m high and is also the highest point on the ridge as a whole.
from Lords Seat we make our way down then following a path through fields back to the carpark, well that was the plan but we made a trip up mam tor and down the other side
